Pat was miffed. Bruce was unsympathetic. He was texting me that I was just plain wrong. Admit it - you were wrong with taking the Lions.
Well, I know I would jinx the Lions if I made them a Mega Bet, so if I knew it was going to go south – does that make it wrong?
Beats me. It's a logic conumdrum. But I promised Pat that I would use my jinxing superpowers to help the Lions. I’m Mega Betting the Packers no matter what this weekend. And because I was getting no sympathy from Bruce, instead getting some severe scolding, I’m going to Mega Bet his Falcons too. Soon, he’ll know what it feels like to be on the wrong side of a Mega Bet.
Like when you fumble into the opponents end zone or lose your best defender and get torched by Odell Beckham. That's coming your way Bruce.

The college games are going a bit better. I picked up a Mini Mega win when Tulsa destroyed Central 55-10. And I got another win when Western Kentucky scored a TD with 2 minutes to go to clinch the over 51-31.

Poinsettia Bowl – BYU -10.0 vs Wyoming [Pick 1 33] [Pick 2 25] – For the fourth time in five years, BYU QB Taysom Hill won’t be finishing out the season. He went down with an injury in the season finale against Utah State. Luckily, backup QB Tanner Magnum has plenty of experience filling in. He’s completed nearly 60% of his passes for 3,377 yards, 23 TDs against only 10 picks. But he is not the running threat that Hill was.
It really won’t matter though, there are NBA teams that play better defense than Wyoming. The Cowboys rank 105th in scoring defense and 112th overall.
Wyoming will start the game trying to run the ball. They average 209 yards per game but the BYU defense will shut them down. They have the nation’s 8th best run defense allowing 108.4 yards per game. No one has gotten over 100 yards since Boise State ran for 129 yards in a heartbreaking 28-27 loss back in October.
The Cowboys will then likely end up trying to attack the Cougar secondary. Wyoming sophomore QB is capable having thrown for just under 3,000 yards this year but he does have a tendency to turn it over. He has 13 picks on the year.
BYU's four losses to Utah, UCLA, West Virginia and Boise State were by a combined eight points. Then again BYU’s only win over a Div 1A team with a winning record was against Toledo. Wyoming has some nice wins over Air Force, San Diego State and Boise State but has faded down the stretch losing three of their last four inclusing losses to UNLV and New Mexico.
Both teams are making bettors some money. BYU went 9-3 ATS including 6-0 away from Provo. Wyoming was 8-4-1 ATS including 5-1 as the underdog.
I have a ton of points on in my pools on the Cougars but 10 points might be a stretch. I’ll take the Cowboys but no quatloos. I’ll put a quatloo down on the over 57.5 though.

Famous Idaho Potato Bowl – Colorado State -13.5 vs Idaho [Pick 1 CSU 40] [Pick 2 CSU 16] –
Two more teams coming in red hot into bowl season. The Vandals qualified for a bowl game for only third time in their 21 seasons of Div 1A play by winning six of their last seven games. CSU was also torrid down the stretch, winning four of their last five contests - including a 63-point explosion in a win over Mountain West champ San Diego State.
It won’t be a home game for the Vandals but they will be playing in their home state down in Boise. But Colorado State is familiar with the smurf turf too. Back in October, they almost shocked the world - just missing beating BSU as 28 point underdogs.
It’s all about the emotion with Idaho. They came into the season being told by the Fun Belt that their services will no longer be required after next year. So they gave the football world a big FU and became bowl eligible for the first time since 2009.
The offense is nothing special. It’s led by junior quarterback Matt Linehan (son of Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Scott Linehan) who’s passed for 2,803 yards and 15 touchdowns with 10 interceptions.
The Vandals got where they were by the defense that's been much better. than prior years They have held three of its last four opponents to 14 or fewer points. And it’s much more opportunistic. The Vandals are plus 8 in turnovers this year (14th overall) and has 15 picks on the year (also 14th). But when the secondary isn't picking the ball off they are allowing a ton of yards. They are giving up 270 yards per game (112th overall).
Colorado State’s offense has been red hot. They have scored 40 or more points in four of their last five games. It would have been five straight if they hadn’t taken their foot off the gas in a 37-0 blowout of Fresno State. The Rams have dominated the opposition during that stretch, winning by an average of 26.5 points. They are especially lethal in the redzone scoring 94% of the time. And they are balanced. Five different players rushed for over 100 yards the last two games.
CSU was easy money this year as they went 10-2 ATS including their last seven straight. But the Rams have failed to cover their bowl games the past three seasons. Idaho almost as hot vs. spread, covering last seven in 2016, though the Vandals are just 1-3 vs. line outside of Sun Belt.
This is a big step up in weight class for the Vandals. When playing better competition they were crushed by Washington and Washington State by a combined 115-20. CSU is not in that league but have the horsepower to put a beat down on Idaho. The Vandals will keep it close for a half and then the secondary will start allowing points. I’ll take the Rams for a quatloo.
