Happy FFDY everyone!!
It was a wild night in the Sportsbook last night. More in the 2015 GO JUMBO recap. Let’s just say that there was another wild finish that had the SuperBook explode in delight!
I’m down early reserving the new standup tables in front of where the football Jumbotrons will be playing.
The gang agrees there are not a whole lot of slam dunk Mega Bets today but I’ll go with an exceedingly rare- first time ever Double Mega Bet!!! On
Michigan State -4.0 @ Nebraska – Of course, it will be on the Spartans. I’m doing it because I can.
That and MSU will finally be healthy again after a week’s rest. The offensive line gets Center Jack Allen back which will be huge.
And Connor Cook is going to go nuts in the passing game against a woeful Nebraska secondary. The Huskers have allowed 16 TD passes over the last five games with no picks.
In front of a home crowd, the Huskers will come out fired up after last weeks humiliation to Purdue. It’ll be close for a half and then Cook will start hitting those back shoulder fades, setting up the running game behind a rejuvenated OL and Sparty will romp.
Minnesota +23 @ Ohio State – Minnesota played an emotional game last week. The were playing to honor the recently departed Jerry Kill. Late in the game they get the tying TD but decide to go for 2. Everyone knew it was going to be the QB sneak. And.. it was. Michigan stuffs it and wins the game.
So will the Gophers be up for a secnd straight time. I don’t know. But what I do know is that OSU’s offense started motoring with JT Barret behind the wheel. So what does he do? He gets behind the wheel after too much partying and gets a DUI. He’s suspended for this game (of course he will be back for the State game)
With Cardale Jones back under center, OSU just doesn’t move the ball as well.
The Gophers are always a tough out and are playing well for Tracey Claeys. They will keep it close.
Going to take some Mini Megas too on:
Wisconsin -11 @ Maryland – Terps are a trainwreck. Wisconsin has the #1 rated scoring defense and RB Corey Clements back. Badgers roll
Oregon -3.5 vs Cal – QB Vernon Adams makes the Ducks go and like everyone else have an easy time with the Bear defense. Should be a high scoring game but the Ducks will roll late.
More to come!!
GO JUMBO!!!
And the Sheriff is also healthy after a bye last week and is going with:
Purdue (Pick) over Illinois. The Boilers looked impressive in beating Nebraska last week and seemed to have turned a corner under second-year coach Darrell Hazell. Purdue will get its second consecutive Big 10 win on Saturday in West Lafayette.
UNLV (-9.5) over Hawaii. Hawaii finally fired Norm Chow on Sunday after going 10-36 in 4 seasons under the former USC offensive Coordinator. Hawaii is 0-5 in Mountain West action and coming off a 58-7 home loss to Air Force. In honor of GO JUMBO weekend and the Doofus’ visit to Sin City, this seems an appropriate pick for the occasion.
Washington State (-1.5) over Arizona State. The Smart Money is heavy on the Cougs (Arizona State opened on Sunday as the favorite), and the Sheriff is riding its coattails. Those of you on the east coast who stayed up until 2:00 AM Sunday morning witnessed a great game between Stanford and Washington State. Wazzu lost 30-28 when its 43-year field goal try hooked right as time expired, but they gave the Cardinal all it could handle. Only a heroic effort by Stanford QB Kevin Hogan (112 yards on the ground in a torrential downpour) won the game for the PAC-12’s best team. Wazzu is for real, ladies and gentlemen, and they should have no trouble beating the Sun Devils in Pullman.
