An interception at the end of the first half started the Spartan tailspin Well, that was embarasing. The last time State played Bama they got crushed. At the time they said it was a good measuring stick on how far they needed to go to become a championship calibre team.
They still have a long way to go. Starting with the OL which could not control Bama's DL. But it goes beyond the OL. There were failures across the board. The secondary was torched, the DL had numerous poorly timed penalties, receivers dropped balls. Even special teams (ironically facing Bama special teams coach and former State HC Bobby Williams) let up a score.
MSU was hoping to get into a 15 round brawl with Bama and was keeping up with the tide for nearly a half. But it was a key serries right before the end of the half that doomed State. Down 10-0 MSU drove to the Bama 12. There was 20 seconds to go. It was a chance to cut the lead to 10-7 or at least 10-3 and be down one score. With a chance to regroup at halftime State could pull out one more miracle finish.

Clemson torched Oklahoma Oklahoma -3.5 vs Clemson - This was a great game....for a half. THe Sooners and Tigers were locked in a tight game as they went to the locker rooms with Oklahoma up 17-16.
The Tigers racheted up the defense and held the high flying Sooners scoreless in the second half. Clemson took the opening drive of the second half for a 5 minutes 75 yard TD drive to go up 23-17. It was the points they would need.
The Tigers next drives went missed FG, TD, punt TD. They crushed Oklahoma 37-17 Loss
But with a quatloo on hte under 66 I still eked out a small profit on the day.
For today's New Years 6 games I'll go with

The Vols are lethal on special teams Michigan vs Florida under 40.5 - Two good defenses face off in the Wild Wings Bowl. Florida is 8th in scoring defense while scUM is 4th in overall defense. But scUM has the better offense whcih accounts for them being favored. Flirda struggles to put points on the board ranking 123rd in red zone scoring efficiency.
No way am I going to bet on Michigan but I will lay a Mega Bet on the under of 40.5
Northwestern +8.5 vs Tennessee - Northwestern is a tough team to figure out. There is no passing game to speak of. The running game is nothing special. The defense is solid holding their last four opponents to an average of 14 points.
Yet, the Cats were able to go 10-2 this year. Nothing flashy - just win baby.
Tennessee has a better offense powered by RB Jalen Hurd and QB Joshua Dobbs. Hurd finished fourth in the SEC in rushing with 1,158 yards while Dobbs scored 24 TDs 15 through the air nine with his feet.
This should be a pretty close game unless there is a special teams TD. Tennesse was 1st in punt returns and 2nd in kickoff returns.
