Only 1 more week until college football. The long long wait is almost over.
Time to start getting the Doofus Deck ready for a great season of Football!!
Right now I'm working out the final details with Mrs. Doofus as to which days I can host Whiskey Swilling Cigar Chomping Football Watching Parties. Saturday is definitely a go. Might go for a Thursday tune up party too and watch UNC vs South Carolina. I know Ellis will be over for that one.
Friday is the first Spartan game but with the satellite TV being a bust because of the over abundance of trees in the back yard - I might have to talk Ellis into hosting.
And in between making some modest improvements to the finely crafted home made Doofus TV Tower, putzing around the yard and work – I came across some interesting tidbits
The first one I’ll use as this week’s trivia question – since 1987 there has been 16 quarterbacks to win the Heisman Trophy yet only one has won a playoff game in the NFL. Name the QB – answer below.
And speaking of quarterbacks – this is the 30th anniversary of perhaps the greatest draft in NFL history. Three Hall of Fame QBs went in the first round – John Elway (1), Jim Kelly (14) and Dan Marino (27). And three other solid QBs also went in the first round – Todd Blackledge (7), Tony Eason (15) and Ken O’Brien (24).
Add to that were three other Hall of famers in RB Eric Dickerson (2), OL Bruce Matthews (9) and DB Darrel Green (28).
Our own purveyor of wine and spirits – Chris Hinton went number 4!
So Dave Purdum took a look at those QBs and all the QBs since that draft to calculated who was the best against the spread (minimum 100 starts). The answer shouldn’t surprise you.

And while it is only preseason – this could turn out to be one of the best catches of the season
And just in time to for you season ticket holders – here is an article on devices to sneak in booze. Love the
