UT San Antonio -13.0 @ Coastal Carolina - The opening round playoff teams got a home game but there is another team paying on its home field during Bowl season too. Coastal Carolina will play the Myrtle Beach Bowl right in its own crib.
Who knows who will be playing QB for the Chants. Starting QB Ethan Vasko and backup, former Spartan Noah Kim are both in the transfer portal. No other quarterback attempted a pass all season, leaving only a pair of freshmen in Tad Hudson and Alex Walker on the depth chart.
Coastal offense was terrible before they skeedattled. The Chants fired offensive coordinator Travis Trickett after Week 8, but the offense only got worse once Tim Beck took over play-calling duties.
The defense wasn’t much better. They were terrible defending the run, and just slightly above average against the pass.
UTSA started out this season slow at 3-5 but won three of their last four to nab a bowl nab. Unlike years past (and their nickname to boot) the Roadrunners were a passing team this season. QB Owen McCown (that’s right – son John McCown) finished the season with 24 TDs, nine picks and over 3,000 yards passing.
The defense was stellar this season superb against the run. UTSA allowed just 3.2 yards per carry on the year, 13th in the country. The Roadrunners ranked ninth in the country in sacks and finished third with 104 tackles for loss in 12 games.
UTSA is far better than a fading Coastal Carolina. I’ll lay the points.

Northern Illinois -3.5 vs Fresno State – The transfer portal has ravaged both teams including their starting QBs. Fresno took it in the shorts harder with 9 total starters out vs 5 for NIU. The FSU wide receiver room was hit particularly hard, leaving it with the three projected starters have four combined catches on the season.
Fresno was not a very good game even with those players. Fresno State offense that simply can't run the ball, ranking in the bottom 10 in YPG.
The Bulldogs finished 6-6, with just two wins over bowl teams in San Jose State and Colorado State.
NIU finished 7-5 but played much better than its record. After pulling off a road stunner against Notre Dame, it lost a number of heartbreakers with four of its five defeats coming by a single possession and many coming when it was the better team statistically. This was one of the best G5 defenses but one of the worst offenses.
I’m going to rely on the Husky defense to rule the day and lay the points in what will llkely be an ugly game.
